Mayoral candidate Bo Dietl ‘illegally’ pulled journalist phone, credit records for Fox News execs/by NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Mayoral hopeful Bo Dietl “illegally secured journalists’ phone records and credit reports” at the behest of Fox News executives, a new lawsuit charged.

Andrea Tantaros’s new suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court adds new allegations to previous reports that the private investigator and former Fox News contributor hounded reporters deemed enemies of former CEO Roger Ailes.

“Ailes had Bo Dietl do more than just follow journalists,” the suit says.

Dietl also pulled records on journalists at the request of Fox News general counsel Diane Brandi, the suit says. The suit does not specify which journalists and makes the explosive charge “upon information and belief.

The lawsuit also cites previous reports that Dietl instructed private eyes working for him to follow New York Magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman, who has written extensively about Fox News.

“In big letters: never ever did Roger Ailes hire me to do any investigation of any journalist,” Dietl said.

“This is only coming out because I’m the only private investigator who appears on Fox News. Roger never hired me.

Dietl said he was hired only once in 2005 to assist a law firm investigating a sexual harassment allegation against Bill O’Reilly.

Dietl added that he and Ailes had limited contact over the past few years, and that he was a little miffed that the network had passed him over for a security contact with the company.
